Office of the Public Independent Conciliator: Institution Educates Councils On Obligations

They now know what is expected from each other for better service delivery

Traditional leaders, religious authorities, youth leaders, economic operators and civil society organisations drawn from Eyumojock, Tinto, Akwaya and Mamfe Councils were on July 7, 2023, schooled on the missions of the Office of Pubic Independence Conciliator (OPIC) for the South West Region. The gathering at the Mamfe Town Hall was chaired by the Senior Divisional Officer for Manyu, Viang Mekala. Representing the Public Independence Conciliator, Bernard Fonju Njukang explained in details to the participants the missions of the institution. He told the participants that OPIC settles disputes amicably between users of Council services and the Councils, and insisted that it is not a Court. He underlined that the instrument that laid down the condition for the discharge of the duties of the OPIC highlights that users of the Regional Assembly, two City Councils and 31Councils in the South West Region should receive best quality services. “When we educate them, we are enhancing understanding, comprehension and we think it will go a long way to foster performance of the collectivities,” he told the press.
