Chantal Biya Foundation-UNAIDS : Together To End AIDS In Children

During her visit to the Foundation yesterday July 20, 2023, UNAIDS Boss expressed the wish of her organisation to effectively work with the Foundation.


“Congratulations! I am greatly inspired by the medical and humanitarian works taking place at the Chantal Biya Foundation (CBF) since 1994.” The Executive Director of UNAIDS and Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations, Winnie Byanyima, told the press in Yaounde, yesterday July 20, 2023 after visiting the headquarters of the CBF. The visit, which was meant to be a brief one, went beyond the estimated time because of the attention Winnie Byanyima paid in wishing to know how treatment was carried out for some complicated medical illnesses she saw at the Mother and Child Centre of the Foundation as well as the methods used in supporting needy families with medical problems. 
Upon her arrival at the premises of the CBF, she was received by the Secretary General of the Foundation, Habissou Bidoung, alongside other senior staff. Thereafter, she had a closed door audience with the Secretary General before getting into a conference hall where she was able to know the mission of the CBF. In a presentation, the Director of the Mother and Child Centre of the Foundation, Professor Paul Olivier Koki Ndombo revealed that the Foundation, created by the First Lady of Cameroon, Chantal Biya, is aimed at alleviating the suffering of the vulnerable populations. The major strength of the Foundation, he noted, is in the untiring and powerful advocacy of its Founder. Professor Koki Ndombo said the Foundation is greatly involved in the fields of; social welfare, education, sports, support to vulnerable groups and health. Health, according to the Director of the Mother and Child Centre, is where the Foundation excels. He revealed that the Mother and Child Centre of the Foundation is a centre of excellence in child care and training in paediatrics and advanced research in child health.
