Government Action Fair : Infrastructural Dev’t On The Spotlight

Communication Minister, René Emmanuel Sadi, on behalf of the Prime Minister chaired the official opening of the 12th edition on July 24, 2023.

The 12th edition of the Government Action Fair, best known by the French acronym SAGO has been officially opened in Yaounde. Communication Minister, René Emmanuel Sadi, on behalf of the Prime Minister, presided at the opening ceremony on July 24, 2023 in the presence of members of government, the diplomatic corps and civil society organisation representatives. Holding under the theme, “Infrastructure development and structural transformation of Cameroon’s economy,” the fair which began on July 22 ends on July 29, 2023. Different ministries and public administrations are making known their services, functioning and innovations to users. 
In his opening statement, the Minister of Communication noted that SAGO is being organised to showcase micro and macro projects embarked on by the government to address internal and external challenges, notably the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020 and the Russia-Ukraine war which has left several consequences on the economy. Strategies put in place to ensure the effective implementation of the National Development Strategy 2030, especially in the infrastructural domain, will also been presented to visitors of various stands. Development, the Minister stated, warrants the multiplication and modernisation of infrastructure to improve the living conditions of the population, something he said, constitutes one of the priorities of government’s drive towards emergence. “SAGO therefore presents the opportunity to present its assets to partners. The ambition of SAGO since its creation is to create a direct conversation between government and its partners, as well as the population,” Réne Emmanuel Sadi stated, adding that the fair will also reinforce synergy amongst government institutions.
An inaugural statement by the Minister of Public Works, Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi on the “Role of road infrastructure in the transformation of the economy,” presented the actual state of the national road network, envisaged plans and challenges faced.
