Russia-Africa Summit : Presidents Paul Biya, Vladimir Putin Meet

The Head of State and wife, Chantal Biya joined other African leaders present in St Petersburg for a reception offered by their Russian host.

One of the major highlights of the ongoing Russia-Africa Summit that opened in St Petersburg, Russia yesterday 27 July, 2023 was the evening reception that President Vladimir Putin offered to his guests. In attendance were all the African Heads of State and governments present for the Summit. Conspicuously present was the Cameroon Head of State Paul Biya who was accompanied by the First Lady, Mrs Chantal Biya. It was an occasion for the Cameroonian leader to briefly have an exchange with his Russian counterpart before joining other leaders at the Expo Forum venue where the Second Russia-Africa Summit is taking place in St Petersburg. 
The evening event came after President Putin officially opened the Economic and Humanitarian Summit in the presence of several African leaders. Apart from outlining the vision that he has for the future cooperation between Russia and Africa, President Vladimir Putin noted at the opening that he was ready to contribute in whatever way in taking Africa out of the present food crisis caused by the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
