Upholding Rights Of Disabled Persons

 A workshop to increase their position in decision-making spheres ended last Friday in Yaounde.

According to a resolution from the UN General Assembly, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) indicators should be disaggregated, where relevant, by income, sex, age, race, ethnicity, migratory status, disability and geographic location, or other characteristics in accordance with the fundamental principles of official statistics. It is within this backdrop and in line with persons with disabilities that Sightsavers, an international non-governmental organisation, last week in Yaounde organised a two-day workshop aimed at advocating for an increased participation of people with disabilities in the political life of the country both as voters as well as candidates in the different elections taking place in the country.
