AFBC Elite Championships : Athletes Vie For Medals

Some 27 countries are taking part in the competition that kicked off on July 28, 2023 at the Yaounde Multipurpose Sports Complex.

The 2023 edition of the African men and women’s Boxing Championship was officially launched at the Yaounde Multipurpose Sports Complex on Friday July 28, 2023. Athletes from some 27 countries are vying for medals in several categories. 
Speaking at the occasion, the President of the Provisional Management Committee of FECABOXE, Edmond Banga, welcomed all the delegations. He also thanked government for putting him at the helm of the federation that is undergoing some crisis.  The President of the Confederation of African Boxing, Bertrand Magloire Mendouga, thanked the government of Cameroon for facilitating the organisation of the competition. He also thanked the President of the International Boxing Federation Omer Lazarovich who has increased the prize money attributed to the boxers at the end of the competition which has been a motivation for the boxers and countries that are participating massively in the Yaounde event. He said his major objective when he took over the helm of the confederation was to bring more visibility in African boxing. He said barely one year after Africa has organised two big competitions.
