Individual Sports Disciplines: Guaranteeing Continuity

The performance of Cameroonian athletes at the just-ended Francophonie Games are promising especially with upcoming respectable competitions.

Just when many were in doubts about the output of Cameroonian athletes in individual sports disciplines relative to the competitiveness of respectable international events, the just-ended Francophonie Games in Kinshasa have come to change the narratives. It has given hope that continuity is being guaranteed and that with much more efforts, Cameroon can do better in prestigious multi sports competitions like the African Games and Olympic Games that are all billed for next year.
In Kinshasa, Cameroon finished third on the General Classification amassing a total of 40 medals. Putting the gold medal obtained in music and the two medals in football and basketball (collective sports), the 37 remaining medals were gotten in individual sports. This tells of the steadfastness of the Cameroonian flagbearers in the various disciplines. 
Talk of Athletics and one of the first names you will hear is Emmanuel Eseme who won gold in the men’s 100m in 10’04” at the 2023 Francophonie Games. He recently wowed the world when he ran the distance in 9’96” in Switzerland. Apart from the 100m, he is also a hope in the 200m. In the other athletics disciplines, Appolinaire Yinra, Nora Monie Atim, Frédéric Lemongo just proved at the Francophonie Games that a bright future is guaranteed as they amassed medals. What is even more interesting is that these athletes are multitalented and are capable of excelling in more than one athletics discipline.
