Sambo : Centre Region Prepares For Major Competitions

A two-day training workshop took place at the sports hall of the National Fire Brigade in Mimboman, Yaounde last weekend.

The Cameroon Sambo Federation through its regional leagues has embarked on equipping athletes and officials with new techniques as a way of developing the discipline in the country. It is in this light that a two-day training workshop took place at the sports hall of the National Fire Brigade in Mimboman, Yaounde last weekend. Organised by the Centre Regional Sambo League, the competition brought together participants from the Centre Region. The training workshop aimed at providing adequate preparation for sambo athletes ahead of future competitions notably the Sambo Cup of Cameroon that will take place on August 19, 2023 as well as the Sambo World Cup that will take place in November 2023 in Armenia.
The President of the Centre Regional Sambo League, Master Ndoh Atangana Gervais Désiré, said there is general satisfaction with the progress of the sports discipline in the country. He said the objectives were based on the technical basis of sambo and the diversification of technical and tactical learning. “This is the reason why this course was part of the modernisation and the development of sambo,” he said.
