Egypt Too Strong For Burundi

Egypt have made it five on five in the group phase of the ongoing African Nations Volleyball Championship in Yaounde. This was after beating Burundi 3 sets to 0 yesterday August 20, 2023 at the Yaounde Multipurpose Sports Complex. It was their last group game of the competition and predictions before the match put Egypt as favourites. It was almost already obvious that Egypt will overpower Burundi with no stress. After all, they had defeated the “Almighty” Cameroon that humiliated Burundi in the official opening match of the competition. Added to this, the Egyptians have lifted the prestigious trophy three times. 
As expected, Egypt had an easy first set which they won 25-02. The Egyptians lined up 10 points in about five minutes with Burundi scoring none. They continued in the same light and it was after Egypt’s 19th point that Burundi could score their first point. This point got the few fans that answered present shouting at the top of their voices and encouraging the Burundians to press on. Despite all the support, Burundi could end the first set with only two points. This was the same score the Burundians recorded against Cameroon in the first set.
