Rosette Mboutchouang’s Works Celebrated

The funeral of the former Mayor of Bangou and mother of First Lady Chantal Biya was celebrated in Bandenkop on Saturday 25, 2017.

The Queen mother of Bandenkop, Bangou Subdivision of Upper Plateau Division in the West Region and Mayor of Bangou Council from 2007 to 2014, Mefe Siligap Mboutchouang Rosette Marie died and was buried in 2014 but she continues to live through her works as a historic woman with a kind and generous heart who dedicated her life and resources to development.
The good works of Rosette Mboutchouang, mother of Cameroon’s First Lady, Chantal Biya was in song, dance and messages contained in speeches, banners and eulogies during a funeral organized in her honour in Bandenkop, the home village of her husband, Ernest Mboutchouang. The Mayor of Bangou Council, Charles Nana said, “In seven years, she achieved what has never been achieved since the creation of the council in 1959.” Just as a tip of the iceberg in the works, the mayor cited the tarring of a large boulevard in 2008 that bears the name Rosette Mboutchouang, linking of three villages Bangou, Bandenkop and Bapa with tarred roads and creation of schools. She also ensured potable water supply and constructed bore holes to the tune of FCFA 2 billion.
It was with the zeal to pay tribute and honour to the development and humanitarian icon that all roads led to Bandenkop for the funeral on Saturday, February 25, 2017. The Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Pierre Ismael Bidoung Mkpatt personally represented the Head of State, Paul Biya in the funeral that was also watched by the President of the Senate, Marcel Niat Njifenji who was the general supervisor of the organizing committee.
