Climate Crisis : Jato Sonita Donates, Plants Trees

Jato Sonita, an upcoming crooner and her group of singers stand, out for one thing. They are often clad in shredded plantain and tree leaves during performance. This, they explain, is acknowledgment that humanity owes its continuous survival to the existence of forests. Apart from music, Sonita has been involved in other causes like the climate crisis. In this vein, Sonita and her Forest Children group of singers were in the Bamenda Regional Hospital on September 3, 2023 as part of the songster’s efforts to promote environmental protection. 
“We are products of nature - Forest Children - as my group is known. It is our civic duty to protect the environment and fight climate change. Planting trees and taking positive action can be emulated by young people to make the world a better place. We want to be the voice of environmental protection and the fight against climate change in Cameroon,” Sonita, 15, said on Sunday, September 3, 2023 in the Bamenda Regional Hospital.
Jato Sonita and her group donated and planted Terminalia Mantaly trees, popularly known as umbrella trees, in the hospital. And offered table water, juice, soap, toiletries and dustbins. “We also made a donation to the children's ward because we care about young people like us. It is school reopening time. We know some of our peers in hospital might not be able to go to school due to ill health. We therefore decided to visit them, sing for them, give them a message of hope and encourage them not to give up on their dreams despite their health challenges,” Sonita, a Lower Sixth student, explained.
