Social Dialogue : Actors Urged To Preach Peace

Following the break observed after the holding of the 35th session of the Social Dialogue Consultative and Follow-up Committee, the Minister of Labour and Social Security, Grégoire Owona yesterday, September 26, 2023 presided at the 36th and 37th sessions of the committee which focused on preserving social peace and improving the working conditions of workers in Cameroon. 
The gathering was an occasion for its Chairman, Grégoire Owona to call on members to continue preaching social peace. He explained that problems faced by workers in society are many and they cannot be solved within days or month. He reiterated that the government has shown its willingness to listen to the problems of all workers and most especially its determination to improve the working conditions of workers as well as the living conditions of all Cameroonians. 
The Committee Chairman while opening the session said it was taking place within the backdrop of the decree signed by the Prime Minister, Head of Government, revising the Guaranteed Minimum Wage (SMIG) in March 2023 and the recent organisation of a brainstorming workshop under the theme: “Shift in Work Paradigm in the Digital Era.” The Minister used the occasion to emphasise on the upward revision of the minimum wage and added that the rise is a major improvement in the wages of the different beneficiary categories and will therefore increase the purchasing power of workers and the well-being of their families.  According to him, this is proof that the government pays attention to the concerns raised by workers and attests to the fruitful and genuine social dialogue that prevails in the country.
