Council Services : Population Expected To Benefit More

The Office of the Public Independent Conciliator for the North West Region is training community-based assistants to ensure that local councils respect the law and work for general development.

Community-based assistants of the Office of the Public Independent Conciliator for the North West Region will in the days ahead better serve as worthy and credible relay agents for the message of the institution in their areas. These agents that come from the 35 municipalities in the region will have to extend the intensive sensitisation on the mission and mandate of the Public Independent Conciliator.
The community-based assistants were trained in a capacity building workshop held on September 27 and 28, 2023 in Bamenda. Speaking while chairing the opening ceremony of the workshop, the Public Independent Conciliator, Tamfu Simon Fai said, “The PIC is a public institution, empowered to receive and investigate citizens’ complaints against administrative acts of Councils and resolve these matters amicably.” He further said that, “After the workshop, you will see to the community’s right to redress and therefore, establish a good recourse for aggrieved and the undeserved of your municipality.” The PIC stated that for them to succeed, they must be neutral, impartial, independent, confident and objective in your work.
