Carnet diplomatique : German Reunification Celebrated In Yaounde

Activities marking the 33rd anniversary of the landmark event took place on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 in the Hilton Hotel.

Thirty-three years after the reunification of Germany, the joy is still vivid as if it was yesterday. The joy of two sisters re-uniting after being separated by the Second World War was again manifested in the Yaounde Hilton Hotel during an occasion that was chaired by the German Ambassador to Cameroon H.E Dr Corinna Fricke. Flanked by several members of government and a cross-section of members of the diplomatic corps, H.E Dr Corinna lauded the excellent relationship between Yaounde and Bonne, especially after the recent successful negotiation with the government on bilateral cooperation. The negotiation that culminated in the identification of four priority areas for the next two years is expected to see the disbursement of FCFA 39.3 billion. She added that for this to be a reality, the private sector was brought in with the organization of a Business for Development Forum that saw the participation of over 100 businessmen from Germany and Cameroon. She stressed that to mark their presence, they organized a Germano-Cameroonian Day during which several actors from Germany exhibited their know-how in the National Museum in the presence of Minister of State Keul in November and Flabarth in July.
Dr Corinna believes in the past 60 years, relations between the two countries have been going on hitch-free with palpable results at national level and she intends to propose a new dimension to the relationship.
