Cameroon-Russia : Strategic Associates

Political, economic and technical relations between Yaounde and Moscow are positive.

Cameroon and Russia are two bilateral partners who enjoy a remarkable relationship. Diplomatic ties were established on February 20, 1964 and continue to grow in strength and bonds. There exist several cooperation accords between the two parties, with officials of either country constantly meeting in particular context to examine the said relations. It is equally within the framework of strengthening these bilateral relations that the President of the Republic, Paul Biya, granted an audience to the Russian Ambassador to Cameroon, Anatoly Bashkin on October 26, 2023 at the Unity Palace. With President Paul Biya having participated at the second edition of the Russia-Africa Economic Forum in Saint-Petersburg in July 2023, on the invitation of President Vladimir Putin, the audience was a moment for the two personalities to revisit the event, examine bilateral cooperation and prospect the future. Ambassador Anatoly Bashkin who has come to the end of his diplomatic assignment in Camerroon told reporters after the audience that they spoke at length on the Russia-Africa forum and analysed cooperation ties based on the impact on development and the living conditions of citizens of either country. 
Russia and Cameroon share cooperation ties in the political, economic, commercial, technical and cultural spheres. Political cooperation is determined by a formal framework of political consultations which is an essential catalyse of bilateral relations, with the last, 11th session, having held in Moscow in October 2017.
