“We Will Remove Barriers And Bring Together Energies”

Joshua Osih, Chairman of the Social Democratic Front.

As new National Chairman of the SDF, what are your short, medium and long-term plans for the party ?
My vision as Chairman of the party is based on three cardinal points. Firstly, renew trust with all our members and build a conquering party. By this, we aim to restore trust in our members by being transparent and honoring our commitment. We are also going to implement a real “Power to the People” internal policy and this involves: organising a bi-annual national conference for the formulation of our public policy proposals, bringing together all the electoral district presidents, the divisional coordinators, regional presidents and the National Executive Committee. We will also hold meetings of the National Executive Committee on a rotating basis in our different regions. Developing a national strategy to win local elections, implementing innovative and transparent digital fundraising methods and establishing a micro-health insurance for party members are some of projects. Secondly, we will prepare out future with our women and youth. Through perspective, we intend to set up social democracy summer schools across the country to address youth issues, and offer them lasting opportunities with partners, businesses, schools and captains of industry. We also plan on supporting youth and women initiatives at the local level and invest in high-impact individual political projects, and promote young entrepreneurs in our party through mentoring, with particular emphasis on young women. Thirdly, our team plans on bringing together the largest left-wing political force in the country. Within this aspect, we will join forces, beyond our differences., and we will expand our political demographics and our level of influence. More than ever, we will remove barriers and bring together energies.

Concretely, how do you intend to revive the party from the grassroots so as to put it back on winning ways?

This, I will continue to do, and even more strongly. Because I like discussions around big ideas, because they guide our actions, I...
