Promoting Entrepreneurship : Government Supports Bamenda University

The Ministry of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, Social Economy and Handicrafts signed a MoU with the higher institution of learning on November 14, 2023 in Yaounde.

 

In a bid to promote and develop entrepreneurship in the country, the Ministry of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, Social Economy and Handicrafts has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Bamenda (UBa). The agreement was signed on November 14, 2023 in Yaounde. Minister Achille Bassilekin III signed on behalf of his Ministerial Department while Professor Ernest Lytia Molua, Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Research, Cooperation and Relations with the Business World of UBa, penned on behalf of the Vice Chancellor.
Going by both parties, the support to the tune of FCFA 100 million, aims at amongst other things, promoting and disseminating an entrepreneurial culture, sharing experiences and best practices in the definition and implementation of training programmes and tools in the field of entrepreneurship. It also aims at supporting the formalisation and development of business incubation structures in particular those housed within the College of Technology (COTECH) and the National Advanced Polytechnic Institute (NAPI) at UBa. Minister Achille Bassilekin III hoped that the partnership will help expand opportunities for the development of small businesses in Bamenda and boost the economic recovery of the North West Region as a whole.
