Food Security : Cameroon, FAO Talk Collaboration

Minister Felix Mbayu on November 15, 2023 received in audience the Deputy Director General of the Food and Agricultural Organisation, Dr. Abebe Haile Gabriel.

 

Areas of collaboration between Cameroon and the United Nations Food and Agricultural Organisation (FAO) in enhancing agriculture and food systems have come under discussion. This was during an audience the Minister Delegate to the Minister of External Relations in charge of Cooperation with the Commonwealth, Felix Mbayu, granted to the Deputy Director General of FAO, Dr. Abebe Haile Gabriel, who is equally the entity’s Regional Representative for Africa, on November 15, 2023.
The United Nations official said he is in Cameroon to attend the FAO regional meeting for Central Africa and used the opportunity to pay a courtesy call to the Minister. “During our meeting, we discussed about the collaboration between FAO and Cameroon, in particular, the FAO’s support to the efforts of the government and the people of Cameroon towards transforming the agriculture and food systems,” Dr. Abebe Haile Gabriel stated.
Cameroon and FAO, whose partnership dates to over four decades, work to improve food insecurity through support to policy development and formulation, projects and programmes implementation as well as statistical analysis. FAO has provided expertise at various levels to assist the government in Cameroon in improving agricultural production and ensuring crop and livestock protection.
