Promoting Culture : Upper Nkam Displays Talents

Curtains dropped on Saturday November 18 on a cultural festival that was organized by the indigenes from Upper Nkam, in the West region, based in Douala. For one week, the people converged on Salle des fêtes d’Akwa and on different places to portray their culture prowess. The cultural festival dubbed "Tunke" saw children receiving lessons and learning the National Anthem in the "Fe´efe´e" language. Arts work and traditional dishes typically from Upper Nkam were also on display. Cultural dances, singing, and other cultural aspects were on display. During the one week activities, cultures from other regions of Cameroon, especially the sawa, were also on display.
According to the president of the organising committee, Joseph Ladeu, they were out to portray their rich culture. He added that they also aimed at promoting cultural diversity and living together, reasons why they brought in cultures from other regions, especially from Littoral.
