Communication : Priority On Commissioning Media Monitoring Centre

Minister René Emmanuel Sadi, while defending the projected budget of his ministry 2024 which stands at FCFA five billion, 841 million.


The Minister of Communication, René Emmanuel Sadi has presented major projects of the ministry for the 2024 fiscal year. The Minister presented the action plan before the Budget and Finance Committee of the National Assembly on December 4, 2023 while soliciting FCFA five billion 841 million for the execution of some 19 projects.

As stated by the Minister, 2024 will witness the effective commissioning of the Ministry of Communication's national and international media monitoring centre. The implementation of government strategies for communication for development and citizenship education through the media, implementing government's strategy to combat hate speech, in close collaboration with the administrations involved, development partners and civil society players, as well as the creation of a digital platform to promote government action through its major achievements in economic, social and cultural developments, are other projects which the solicited budget envisages to achieve.

Other major prospects highlighted by the Minister is the commissioning of the Virtual Information Agency (VIA) which he stated, remains subject to the availability of the related technical and financial resources.
