Promoting Vocational Training : Limoges Team Explores Cameroon

The team that was in Douala on Friday, December 8 will be in Cameroon till 15 of December 2023.

 

A team from the "Centre de Formation d’apprentis de l’académie de Limoges" in France is in Cameroon to explore the potentials for partnership with Cameroonian professional training institutions. The team, led by Olivier Auroy, Director of « Groupement d’Intérêt Public – Formation Continue et Insertion Professionnelle (GIP-FCIP) et Directeur du CFA Académique de l’Académie de Limoges », was accompanied by Cameroon’s Minister of Employment and Vocational Training, Issa Tchiroma Bakary.

While in Douala, the team visited GICAM, the Professional Excellence Training Center and the Cameroon Chamber of Commerce. At each stop, the different authorities took time off to explain what needed to be done to improve apprenticeship in Cameroon. They also gave explanations on what they could offer to better the situation.

Worthy of note is that since the promulgation by the President of the Republic of the 2018 law governing vocational training, apprenticeship is recognized as one of the modalities of acquisition of skills in Cameroon. As such, Minister Issa Tchiroma Bakary led a mission to the Centre de Formation d'Apprentis de l'Académie de Limoges in June 2023, in order to bring home France's experience in this field. It emerged that France's apprenticeship system covers general education, technological education and vocational training.

In this sense, apprenticeships can lead to the award of professional qualifications from CAP...
