Super Tanks Run Dry : Fuel Shortage Hits Douala

Long queues were noticed at different fuel stations in the economic capital on December 9, 2023.

 

Douala city dwellers woke up on December 9 to discover that the fuel tanks at filling stations were running dry.  It was an unpleasant scene in most fuel stations within the town as cars and commercial moto bikes, using the super type of fuel, could be seen lining up and waiting to be served. Be it at Tradex Bonamoussadi, Gulfin Bonamoussadi, Total Maetur, Ola Denver, Neptune Bonamoussadi, Total Bonaberi, Neptune Bonaberi, MRS Cité des Palmiers, Total Cité des Palmiers, Total Logbaba, Gulfin Nyalla. At Total Ndogbong, MRS Ndogbong, and Bocom Missoke, the situation was the same.
Andrew Nguelefack, a commercial moto bike rider, narrated how he has been to seven different fuel stations and there was no fuel. He said someone hinted him that fuel was available at Total Zaschman in Ndogbong (Douala V), reason why he came there to get the precious liquid. It is worth mentioning that the fuel which is in scarcity is the super, as gasoil is available.
At Total Zaschman in Ndogbong, the queue was unending as heavy-duty trucks could be seen in their numbers in search of super. The situation led to unending traffic forcing people to abandon their cars and trek to their different destinations.
