“The Embassy In Seoul Is Expected To Dramatically Boost Our Bilateral Relations”

What is your appreciation of President Paul Biya’s decision to open a Cameroon’s Embassy in Seoul? 
In 2021 when Korea and Cameroon celebrated the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations. The Cameroonian government informed the Korean government of President Paul Biya’s decision to open the Cameroonian Embassy in Seoul. Since the Korean government gladly agreed to this decision, the two sides have engaged in close consultations. As the Korean Ambassador to Cameroon, I am very glad that the Presidential decree was announced at the very beginning of the New Year, thus officially declaring this important decision to the public. This is great news, particularly as Korea will be hosting the first Korea-Africa Summit this year in June, to which President Paul Biya is invited.  It shows that the bilateral relations are on a good start for 2024, and that all the necessary works needed for the opening of the Embassy would be accelerated.  The Korean government is ready to provide its fullest support for the opening of the Embassy and will continue to cooperate closely throughout the process. 


What added impact will this bring to diplomatic relations between Cameroon and Korea? 
The opening of the Cameroonian Embassy in Seoul is expected to dramatically boost our bilateral relations in every aspect, in the political, economic, cultural affairs and people-to-people exchanges, especially as the new Embassy would function as a useful resource and reliable channel for Korean companies who are interested in investing in Cameroon, and for Korean nationals who want to visit the country. 


Thus far, what is your take on the state of cooperation between Cameroon and Korea? 
Korea and Cameroon boasts 63 years of friendship, and have consistently expanded bilateral cooperation, despite the absence of a Cameroonian resident mission in Seoul.  Korea is the fifth largest bilateral donor for Cameroon in development cooperation with notable projects such as the Garoua General Hospita...
