New Year Wishes 2024 : Flowers For The First Lady

Chantal Biya on January 6, 2024 received New Year Wishes from spouses of diplomats accredited to Yaounde, national dignitaries and women of all walks of life.

Warm regards and best wishes for the year 2024, were on January 6, 2024 presented to the First Lady, Chantal Biya. A total of 29 delegations comprising mainly of spouses of diplomats accredited to Yaounde, female national dignitaries as well as officials of non-governmental organisations and artists exchanged pleasantries with the First Lady in a totally convivial atmosphere during the ceremony which lasted several hours. 
The first delegation to present their New Year wishes to the First Lady was that of spouses of the diplomatic corps accredited in Yaounde, led by Annie Biffot, wife of Gabonese Ambassador to Cameroon and Dean of the Diplomatic Corps. In a brief speech read by her which contained the best wishes from members of the delegation she led, she wished the presidential couple and family, a year of plenty of good tidings. Humanitarian activities carried out by the First Lady, especially in the domain of the promotion of the rights of the girl child, empowerment of rural women and support to the vulnerable populations were saluted. Through the Circle of Friends of Cameroon (CERAC), Annie Biffot noted the organisation founded by the First Lady has carried out charitable and social inclusion activities geared at improving the living conditions of the vulnerable population. 
After the spouses of diplomats, came 28 other delegations comprising officials from different strata of life. From female lawmakers, to mayors, officials of civil society organisations, entrepreneurs, spouses of national dignitaries and those syndicates, as well specially invited guests all had a moment of smiles with the First Lady, with each of them having the opportunity to immortalise the moment with pictures. 
The spouse of the Vice President of the Senate, Anasthasie Nkili and that of Speaker of the National Assembly, Fadimatou Cavayé led the delegations of wives of bureau members of the two Houses of Parliament. This is the first time the former is leading the delegation following the appointment of her husband as Senator on March 31, 2023 by the President of the Republic, Paul Biya and his subsequent election into the Senate Bureau as Vice President. Then came female legislators led by the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Mary Meboka and the Vice President of the Senate, Armande Din Bell, for the two institutions.
