External Relations : Advocacy For Greater Diplomatic Presence

This is the priority highlighted by the Minister of External Relations, Mbella Mbella as he received New Year wishes from staff of the Ministry on January 12, 2024.

For the year 2024, the Minister of External Relations, Mbella Mbella has noted that priority will be enhancing Cameroon’s image abroad and advocacy for greater diplomatic presence. He highlighted the aspect on January 12, 2024, as together with the Minister Delegate to the Minister of External Relations in charge of Cooperation with the Commonwealth, Felix Mbayu, received New Year wishes from the staff of the Ministry. Making reference to the speech of the Head of State, Paul Biya, to the diplomatic corps as he received New Year wishes from them on January 6, 2024, Minister Mbella Mbella said the country’s diplomacy will consist of intensifying campaign in support of Cameroon’s candidature to the presidency of the 79th UN General Assembly scheduled to take place in September 2024. Other candidacies that Cameroon vyies for 2024 as stated by the Minister include the Secretary General of the Organisation African, Caribbean and Pacific States, Executive Director of UNHABITAT and the Deputy Secretary General of the African Continental Free Trade Area. 
On the bilateral front, the Minister said previewed actions include prospection economic missions, organisation of intergovernmental consultations and mixed commission meetings, negotiation and signing of accords and the broadening of diplomatic horizons as it the case with the recent creation of a Cameroonian Embassy in Seoul.
