Yango Transport Service : The Ordeal Of Passengers!

The safety on board hired cabs within the Russian ride-hailing app Yango has quickly dwindled into oblivion. Passengers using the urban transport service in Yaounde are now often than ever faced with the unknown, which is that of being assaulted or even robbed by the driver. Reports from some passengers in Yaounde about their horrific encounters with some Yango drivers are getting many other users afraid as they ponder over their own safety and that of their family members. 
Two weeks ago, Stephanie E, an inhabitant in Yaounde was robbed in a Yango cab during a night ride. While standing along the road, in the Tongolo neighbourhood, she ordered for a Yango cab. For some reason unknown to her, the driver cancelled the ride, even though she could see the cab driver along the taxi stop. In less than five minutes, Stephanie said another Yango driver called her phone indicating her request for a cab has been transferred to him. While boarding the Yango cab, Stephanie said the driver was with another person whom he referred to as the monitor of the car. “Few minutes into the ride, a knife was pointed at me and my hand bag was seized. I lost important belongings amongst which my bank cards, FCFA 150,000,” Stephanie lamented. According to the victim, the second driver was a bandit working in complicity with the Yango driver who first accepted her cab request, and later redirected it to the robber. Stephanie’s story is not different from that of her niece who was robbed in a Yango cab, as she boarded one at a travelling agency after a trip from Douala at night. In this situation, the driver was with another person in the cab, who facilitated the robbery scene.  
Stephanie revealed that after complaining to the Yango online assistance service, she received some kind of an automatic message which reads “I am really sorry to hear that you had to deal with this situation.
