Summit of Group of 77+China : President Paul Biya’s Speech Delivered

It was read by External Relations Minister, Mbella Mbella at the gathering that held in Kampala from January 21-22, 2024 under the Chair of President Yoweri Museveni.


The third summit of the Group of 77+China that held under the theme, “Leaving no one behind,” ended yesterday January 22, 2024 in Kampala, Uganda under the chair of President Yoweri Museveni. The Minister of External Relations, Mbella Mbella led the Cameroonian delegation to the two-day summit which started on January 21, 2024 and read the speech of the President of the Republic, Paul Biya at the gathering. 
The speech of President Paul Biya notes that at the political level, it is a question for member States to take measures to ensure that the fight against inequalities and discrimination is a priority. As concerns trade, the speech regrets the trading environment which unfortunately continues to be unequal and unfair. In terms of technology, Minister Mbella Mbella said the digital divide is at the root of many social and development imbalances. “While supporting existing initiatives, Cameroon would like to see a strengthening of advocacy in favour of technology transfer in order to reduce the digital divide. Cameroon is also in favour of a bold application of development assistance and strong support for development research,” highlighted President Biya’s speech. 
On the general economy and environment, the statement of the Head of State notes that Cameroon advocates the implementation of the resolutions of the last Paris Summit on a new global financial pact, including the commitments made by the various stakeholders to accelerate efforts to mobilize more financing for development and for the climate. “COP 28, which was recently held in Dubai, is a source of hope.
