The President’s Consolation Message

Minister Sadi delivered the message to the representatives of the population in Maroua last Friday, March 03 during a UN Security Council visit to the region

The conference hall of the Maroua Salak Airport last Friday March 03, played host to an important meeting which brought together administrators of the Far North Region, traditional rulers and other stakeholders involved in the fight against the Boko Haram terrorist group. Top on the agenda was the consolation message of the Head of State to the population delivered by Rene Emmanuel Sadi, Minister of Territorial Administration and Decentralisation.  “I have been sent by the President of the Republic to accompany the delegation of the UN Security Council on the field and to deliver a message of appreciation to you for the sacrifice you have been making in the fight against Boko Haram”, he told the population assembled at the airport. Cameroon, he said, has for the past years welcomed thousands of displaced people and refugees from neighbouring countries; a mark of generosity which has not kept the international community indifferent.  
The presence of the UN Security Council delegation testifies the recognition of the international community on Cameroon’s effort in the fight; Sadi said but warned that the situation is not completely over even though Boko Haram has been pushed back to its shell. He recalled that the situation in the Central African Republic as well as in Nigeria remains unstable in terms of insecurity; consequently, the impact of which cannot spare Cameroon, hence the continues concern of the international community to work together.  The special thank you of the Head of State goes to the population especially the traditional leaders who have worked tirelessly to mobilise the population to collaborate with the defence forces in the struggle.
Minister Rene Emmanuel Sadi told the gathering the President is particularly appreciative of the military and is calling on the population to continue to play its role by being vigilant and helping the military in its investigation. The population of the Far North was reminded of the engagement of the government in response to the precarious situation caused by the series of attacks from Boko Haram.
