UN Security Council To Take Broader Measures

Members of the UN Security Council mission to Cameroon had a working session at the Prime Minister’s Office on March 3, 2017.

Cameroon and countries of the Lake Chad Basin in general expect a stronger United Nations involvement in the fight against the terrorist group Boko Haram following the promises made in Cameroon by members of the United Nations Security Council mission.
“We strongly stand with the government of Cameroon in tackling the terrorist threats that come from Boko Haram,” Ambassador of the United Kingdom to the UN, Matthew Rycroft said. He was part of the UN Security Council mission that visited Cameroon from March 2- 3, 2017 to make findings about the ongoing war against Boko Haram so that back in the UN headquarters in New York, they will present a report of their findings for a more concerted fight by member of the UN family. After the mission members had a working session with government officials at Star Building chaired by Prime Minister Philemon Yang, the United Kingdom’s Ambassador further said, “We acknowledge the sacrifices made and we encourage the governments of the Lake Chad Basin to continue to work together and evermore closely together through the Multinational Joint Task Force.”
