Cameroon, will on February 11, 2024 commemorate the 58th Youth Day nationwide.

Activities to crown the 58th national Youth Day will take place on Sunday, February11, 2024 with a grand march-past parade in all the ten regions of the country. The day is being commemorated on the theme “Youth, Import Substitution and Economic Patriotism for Cameroon’s Development.” Official launch of the Youth Day activities took place in the locality of Nsem, in the Upper Sanaga Division, Centre Region, from January 31 to February 1, 2024. Commemoration so far emphasises on the youthful generation’s ability and commitment to contribute to the creation of a prosperous and stable Cameroon.
Since the launch of activities to mark the Youth Day, events organised nationwide have aimed at encouraging the active participation of young people in accelerating the growth of the country’s economy, particularly through entrepreneurship and innovation, in order to reduce its dependence on imports, through the development of its own production and consumption capacity. Through events such as round-table discussions, exhibition stands and cultural jamborees, youths were called to increase patriotic actions. Dignitaries such as the Minister of Youth Affairs and Civic Education, Mounouna Foutsou told youths “economic patriotism can be crucial. In fact, it is a question of young people in their activities promoting the consumption of local products, supporting national businesses and sustainable development, in a spirit of national pride.”
