Extra-ordinary CEMAC Summit : Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh Represents President Biya

The Minister of State, Secretary General at the Presidency sat in for the Head of State at the sub-regional conclave which held via video conference on Friday February 9, 2024 and culminated with the appointment of a new BEAC Governor, CAR’s-born Yvon San


Cameroon and President Paul Biya have once again played a pivotal role in the proper functioning of the Central African Economic and Monetary Community (CEMAC). The Cameroon’s Head of State got represented by the Minister of State, Secretary General at the Presidency of the Republic, Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh during a Friday February 9, 2024 extra-ordinary CEMAC Heads of State and Government Summit which held through video conference. President Paul Biya’s representative was flanked by other top-level officials of the Presidency of the Republic of Cameroon prominent among whom, the Deputy Director of the Civil Cabinet of the Presidency of the Republic, Oswald Baboke.
The CEMAC Heads of State and Government conclave, chaired by its current President, Faustin-Archange Touadéra of the Central African Republic, sought principally to strengthen CEMAC institutions notably its central bank given that Chad’s Abbas Mahamat Tolli, the outgoing BEAC Governor, had come to the end of his mandate and therefore needed a successor.
On the basis of the rotatory policy and based on the fact that it was the turn of Central African Republic to take over the mantle of Governorship from Chad, the extra-ordinary Summit therefore endorsed the choice of CAR’s-born Yvon Sana Bangui as the new BEAC Governor.
The extra-ordinary CEMAC Heads of State and Government Summit had all the six-member countries in attendance: either their Heads of State or representations at very high levels. Besides the chair, CAR’s Faustin-Archange Touadéra, Congo’s President, Denis Sassou-N’geusso, Chad’s Head of State, Mahamat Idriss Deby Itno and Gabon’s President, Brice Oligui Nguema personally took part in the video conference deliberations. Meanwhile, Equatorial Guinea was represented by former BEAC Governor, Lucas Abaga Nchama as the CEMAC Commission Chairperson, Baltasar Engonga Edjo’o played the role of Rapporteur. 
Going by the Final Communiqué that sanctioned the conclave, the Head of State or their representatives listened to the report of the outgoing BEAC Governor and saluted the Chadian national, Abbas Mahamat Tolli for the reforms he undertook during his term of office. It was al...
