“SNH Is Very Ready To Supply Natural Gas To Industries”

Miles Dion Ngute, Head of Department for Infrastructure and Projects at National Hydrocarbons Corporation (SNH) and Rapporteur of the Bipaga Gas Pipeline Project Site.

Cameroon has engaged in industrialization and we see companies like KEDA Cameroon Ceramics building a tiles industry in Bipaga I. How ready is SNH to feed these industries with industrial gas?
As you can notice, SNH is very ready. The gas pipeline project requires the putting in place of 5.27km pipeline to supply the ceramic industry. We have been in the supply of gas for a while now. We are supplying gas to KPDC and it is in the same light that we are going to supply gas to KEDA Cameroon Ceramics. To answer your question, SNH is very ready to supply natural industrial gas to KEDA and other companies that will need it. Everything is being done to make sure that the work we have to do to get the gas ready to be supplied to KEDA is done on time. The procedures are being followed, pipeline is already being posed and the construction work on the terminal site where the gas will be received and sent to KEDA is also ongoing. We are currently at 60 per cent execution rate.

What is the quantity of gas that will be provided to KEDA?
The project requires for this first phase 3.5 to 6.5 standard million cubic feet of gas per day. For this to be done, there are a certain number of things that SNH has to do. We have to build the pipeline, put the pipes in place, build the terminal station to receive the gas and transfer the gas to KEDA. The work is ongoing and right now, we have completed the digging of the path for the pipeline to KEDA. We are currently working on laying the pipes down to supply the gas to KEDA and simultaneously working on the construction of the terminal station which will receive the gas and make sure the gas is sent to KEDA in the right specifications; that is, the right temperatures, pressure and flow rates. So SNH’s team is working with the contracting company to make sure that the pipeline is being built according to standards. Our team is here every day making sure that the digging is done correctly. The pipeline is supposed to go a depth of 1.5m. So we are making sure that the depth is respecte...
