MTN Elite One Play-off Up : Canon, Stade Renard, Coton Qualify

These clubs mathematically booked their spots for this stage of the competition after day 17 matches which ended yesterday February 27, 2024.

 

The last but one playing day of the group phase of the ongoing MTN Elite One Championship, which is the 17th playing day, ended yesterday February 27, 2024.  At this stage of the competition, the classification table is already shaping up on which clubs will continue vying for the title and those that will be struggling for survival. The regulation of the competition states that at the end of the return leg of the group phase, the first four clubs in each of the groups will play the Play-off up. As for the Play-off down, the last six teams in Group A and the last five teams in Group B will play each other and at the end, the bottom-placed five teams will be relegated to the second division.

Play-Off Up
As it stands, Canon Sportif of Yaounde, Stade Renard of Melong and Coton Sportif of Garoua have qualified for this stage. Canon Sportif tops the charts in Group A with 30 points, three ahead of Dynamo. This means that no matter what happens in the last playing day, Canon is sure of a play-off spot. The battle is rather still open for the remaining three spots in this group. This is because the other susceptible clubs closely follow each other. Dynamo that has limped in recent playing days, however has a greater chance to progress. In Group B, Stade Renard have qualified for the play-off up.
