Indomitable Lionesses : Imperative Revamping

The ousting of the Lionesses from several international competitions has proven that much work has to be done to bring the team back on the rails.


The Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon will not compete in the 2024 Olympic Games that will take place in Paris, France in June. The Lionesses failed to qualify for the fourth and last round of the qualifiers after they were beaten 0-1 by the Super Falcons of Nigeria in Abuja on Monday February 26, 2024. The ousting of the Indomitable Lionesses from the qualifying tournament came as a blow to many fans and football pundits. After playing a 0-0 tie in the first leg, hopes were high that the Lionesses would move on to the next round, but that was not the case. The consequences of elimination of the national women’s team are enormous as far as Cameroon football is concerned. 
The Lionesses were eliminated from the first round of qualifiers for the 2024 Women’s TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco in September last year. The Indomitable Lionesses lost on penalties to Kenya 4-3. For the first time since 1991, the Indomitable Lionesses will not participate in the final phase of the Women’s AFCON. From their elimination from the Olympic Games, Cameroon has missed their third consecutive international competition. Cameroon's women's national team is certainly experiencing the worst moments in its history.
