Diplomacy : European Ambassadors Visit South West

While in the regional capital, Buea, they were received by the Governor, Bernard Okalia Bilai.

The South West Regional Governor, Bernard Okalia Bilai has received in Buea, diplomats from various European countries and institutions visiting the region last Friday, 1 March, 2024. They included Chataigner Jean Marc (Ambassador and Head of the European Union Delegation in Cameroon), Dr. Fricke Corinna (German Ambassador to Cameroon), Jacquemin Eric (Belgium Ambassador), Garcia Lumbrelas Ignacio (Spanish Ambassador), Scammacca Del Murgo Filippo (Italian Ambassador), Milianitis Nikolaos (European Investment Bank), Kerespars David (ECHO Bureau Chief), and Pons Jerome (Chief of Cooperation at the European Union Delegation).
After exchanging civilities and posing for a joint photograph at the Governor’s Office, the diplomats proceeded to attend the launching of the Buea University Orange Digital Center equipped at the ASTI bloc some six months ago. The Centre was entirely equipped by Orange Cameroon to foster digital training and start-up opportunities for Cameroonian youth.  
While at the University, Dr. Patrick Benon, Managing Director of Orange Cameroon, presented the equipment and pointed out the purpose for which it gained the investment to include training, development and financing of starters. He said such centres were active in 15 countries in the Middle East and Africa and in Cameroon since 2020. He said such centers are realised through private, public and institutional partnerships.
