Bamenda : Celebration Amidst Appeal For Steadfastness

North West Regional Governor Adolphe Lele Lafrique presided at the celebrations marking the 39th edition of the International Women’s Day in Bamenda.


Women in particular and the general population turned out massively at the Bamenda Commercial Avenue Grandstand on March 8, 2024 for the march past parade and prize award as they concluded activities marking the 39th edition of the International Women’s Day.  Activities and speeches during the occasion presided at by the North West Regional Governor Adolphe Lele Lafrique centred around theme, “Invest in women, accelerate progress.”
The celebration took over two and half hours during with prizes, recognition certificates and trophies were handed to individuals and teams that won individual, collective and traditional sports competitions as well as winners of economic and cultural activities such as hairdressing and barbing.  After the awards came the thrilling march past that was led by the spouse of the North West Governor. Different groups that marched past were women of ministries and autonomous State services, University of Bamenda, the Bamenda City Council as well as the Bamenda I, II and III Subdivisional Councils, and the ruling Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement (CPDM).
The women used the occasion through messages in banners and speech of their representatives presented a litany of problems they face.
