Politics : Remarkable Female Figures

No nonsense ladies like Patricia Ndam Njoya of CDU, Veronica Tita of FRC, Bissa Judithe of FDP and Tchoua Salome of MRN are breaking the myth and making a name in political parties.

Heading a political party is not only a masculine responsibility. There are women who are making a name in the political landscape of the country. Amongst legalised political parties, there are women heading at least ten of them, with some having representatives in Parliament.
The Cameroon Democratic Union (CDU) has as National President, Patricia Ndam Njoya, who is equally an entrepreneur and an author. She became involved in politics in 1991. Her active participation in politics and the impact on the population, led to her election into the National Assembly in 2007 as MP for Noun, on the ticket of the CDU. After the death of the founding President on March 7, 2020, she was elected at the helm of the party. At the National Assembly, her severe approach to debates was remarkable. Following her election as Mayor of Foumban, in the Noun Division of the West Region in the 2020 Municipal elections, Patricia Ndam opted to leave the National Assembly, in accordance with Section 162(2) of the Standing Orders of the House on incompatibility. At the national scene, she is amongst the opposition leaders who are calling for a revision of the Electoral Code. She also makes significant inputs on improving the electoral process during consultations with Elections Cameroon.
Another female leader is Veronica Tita, National President of the Cameroon Republican Front (CRF), one of the freshly legalised political parties.  She notes that her conviction for the creation of a political party stems from the ongoing crisis in the country. To her, she cannot remain indifferent in the face of the challenges, and thus resorted to the creation of a political party to contribute in policy drafting and advocacy that would improve the situation.
