2017 University Games: NW Governor Warns Delinquent Contractors

Delays in the execution of some sports infrastructure that could jeopardize the 2017 University games to be hosted by the State University of Bamenda will fall squarely on the shoulders of some delinquent contractors. That was the message North West Governor Lele Lafrique had for contractors erecting sports infrastructure for the event on February 24, 2017 when sizing up the progress of work on-the-spot in the Bambili campus of the University. The project worth about FCFA 1,839,928,867 include an Olympic complex to host the opening ceremony, a football field, handball courts, a gymnasium and other facilities to ensure quality at the games.
On-going works feature a physical completion rate of about 77.92 per cent for one while most of the projects barely showcase 19.33 per cent, 14,67,13,75 and 7.92 per cent for others. The disturbing situation was the subject of an on-the spot warning by the governor who inspired the contractors to rise to expectation or face the axe.
Accompanied by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Nkuo-Akenji Therese, the Governor also took time off to inspect construction and rehabilitation projects to enhance the infrastructural development of the University of Bamenda.
