War Efforts: MINREX Assists Boko Haram Victims

 A donation of food stuff and financial support was handed over to beneficiaries on March 7, 2017 in Yaounde as part of weeklong activities marking the Commonwealth Day.

As part of weeklong activities to mark the 2017 Commonwealth Day, the Ministry of External Relations (MINREX) and other partners have extended a hand of solidarity to some families of soldiers who died while fighting against the Nigeria-based Boko Haram terrorist group in the Far North of Cameroon. The gift comprising mainly of food stuff (20 bags of rice, 20 bags of salt, 20 cartons of vegetable oil and 20 cartons of washing soap) and financial assistance was handed over to the families in a ceremony chaired by the Minister of External Relations, Lejeune Mbella Mbella in the presence of the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defence, Joseph Beti Assomo and other cabinet ministers.
Speaking at the event, Minister Lejeune Mbella Mbella stressed that “We have a moral obligation to ensure the wellbeing of families of soldiers who ultimately sacrificed their lives to defend our nation. What we offer you can never compensate the lost you suffered but serve as an encouragement.” He added that an event as such should also serve as a reminder that we cannot relent in the fight against terrorism and restoring peace in the country in line with this year’s theme of the Commonwealth Day “A peace-building
