Liberty, Security of Persons : Actors Urged To Protect Human Rights

The recommendation was made at the end of a training workshop for Magistrates, social workers and penitentiary administration staff, chaired by Minister Jean de Dieu Momo on April 30, 2024.

The protection of the rights and liberties of persons is enshrined in the Constitution of Cameroon and contained in several policies of the President of the Republic. Field missions are constantly carried out by the Department of Human Rights and International Cooperation of the Ministry of Justice to ensure the respect of these fundamental rights, irrespective of your location, race and religion. Magistrates, prison administration staff and social workers are the frontline actors expected to see to the protection of human rights, liberties and security of persons. The apt respect of human rights principles by these stakeholders gives credibility to Cameroon at the national and international scene. This explains why a two-day training workshop for Magistrates, penitentiary administration staff and social workers on guarantees to the rights of liberty and security of persons, was organised by the Ministry of Justice from April 29-30, 2024. The Minister Delegate to the Minister of State, Minister of Justice, Keeper of the Seals, Jean de Dieu Momo, presided at the closing ceremony of the workshop on April 30, 2024 on behalf of Minister Laurent Esso.
