Promoting Peace : Peace Education Guide Envisaged

It will be incorporated in some already existing subjects.
A practical guide for peace education has been produced and stakeholders have organised several meetings and workshops to ensure that teachers who will be using the guide become familiar with it and learn the different techniques of how to go about it.
One such workshop was organised by the Women International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF) on Friday 26 July in Douala. The workshop, which brought together teachers and other stakeholders, was aimed at ensuring that participants master the content of the guide and understand the proposed didactic methods for its effective use in classroom practices and alternative teaching environments.
The development of the guide is part of the project "Promoting Social Cohesion among Young People to Prevent Hate Speech and Political Violence in Cameroon" funded by the United Nations Democracy Fund (UNDF) and implemented by WILPF Cameroon, the National Organisation for the Promotion of Education and Development (ONAPED).
During the workshop, the President of WILPF Cameroun, Nathalie Foko, explained that the guide is a practical method for educating school and out-of-school youth on peace, multiculturalism and social cohesion.
