Issa Hayatou: Unshakable Boss!

 The 70-year-old Cameroonian sports guru has been at the helm of the African Football governing body for the past 29 years.

Issa Hayatou, 70, will be running for the eighth term of office during the 39th General Assembly of the African football governing body (CAF), today March 16, 2017 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.  As far as football is concerned the name Issa Hayou is famous on the African continent especially for children born in the last part of the 20th century.
Born on August 9, 1946 in Garoua in the North Region of Cameroon, Issa Hayatou is from a family of politicians. His brother was once the Prime Minister of Cameroon. Issa Hayatou has been a FIFA vice-president since 1992, an Executive Committee member since 1990, and has been at the helm of African football since 1988. As a sportsman in his youth Issa Hayatou distinguished himself in several sports disciplines. He was a member of the Cameroon team for 400m and 800m between 1964 and 1967. He later joined the national basketball team with which he played the All Africa Games in Brazzaville.
The works of Issa Hayatou in the development of African football are vivid and are worthy of praise. Through his achievements Issa Hayatou has been able to maintain his grip on the top- most seat of CAF for the past 29 years.
