Yaounde : Suspect In Police Custody For Pilfering Construction Material

Abdourahmanne, a former labourer with a hydropower firm in Nkolbisson Industrial Zone, was caught by FIDEMAX Security Services SARL on September 3, 2024 as he made away with company material worth 3 million FCFA.
The adage – very old adage – that nature offers a whopping 99 days to the thief. And only one day to the owner of the property, has stood the test of time. And has since become a truism in all societies. But many thieves and mischief-makers appear to pay scant attention to the adage. And the risks in ignoring it.
Abdourahmanne, in his early 30s, is expected, in the coming days, to begin understanding the true meaning of the above adage. If he is remanded in prison custody in Yaounde for pilfering construction rods and metal fittings from the very place where he served as part-time labourer - MBH Power Limited, a hydro-power electrical company based in the Nkolbisson Industrial Zone, Yaounde.
“Our eagle-eye security guards on night duty were doing their last patrol round at 5.30 am on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 when they spotted an unknown person sneaking out of the guarded site. They quickly gave chase and caught up with the young man,” recounts Nchanji Colette Geh, the General Manager of FIDEMAX Security Services SARL. Which provides security services on the premises. Upon learning of the incident, Colette Geh immediately rushed to the Centre Regional Judicial Police Delegation in Mokolo, Yaounde, where she filed a report.
“Without much ado, the Senior Police Commissioner detailed three police officers to come with me to the scene. They questioned Abdourahmanne and later searched his house where they discovered more material he had been stealing from the hydro-power company – all worth about 3 million FCFA,” Colette said.
