Upcoming Elections : ELECAM, Stakeholders Chart Management Ways

This was during the 3rd edition of the EECAM-Stakeholders platform meeting to brainstorm on better organization of elections.

The third edition of the ELECAM-Elections Stakeholders platform meeting took place on Saturday at the conference hall of the North West Regional Assembly in Bamenda to examine how to better organise the upcoming Presidential Election in October, Regional elections in December and municipal elections in 2026.  Presiding over the meeting, the chairperson of the Electoral Board, Enow Abrams Egbe called on participants to suggest good ideas on how to organise hitch-free elections with the Electoral Code in place. He hammered on peace as a prerequisite for any meaningful enterprise and called on participations to take the message of peace to their brothers in the bush and urge them to drop their guns and unleash the enormous development potentials of the North West Region.
Deliberations comprised two presentations and three workshops. There was a presentation of the state of affairs in the Region by the ELECAM Regional Delegate for the North West, Mbowoh Elvis in which he revealed that 636, 983 have registered on the electoral list in the North West Region.  This shows an increase of 2,179 voters, that is 16.1 per cent as of the same time last year. However, they are yet to meet their target of registering 45,000 voters this year as only 15,730 voters have been registered this year. He expressed hope that they will meet the target before the convening of the electoral corps.
