Climate Finance: Environmentalists Galvanize Strategy for Global Stage

The year-long program has empowered Cameroonian environmental activists on transparency in climate finance and strengthening gender-responsive budgeting for adaptation.

As Cameroon prepares to join global stakeholders at the 62nd session of the annual Subsidiary Bodies for Implementation (SBI62) in Germany from June 16-26, 2025, the Climate Finance Action (CFA) working group in Cameroon, a collective of 20 environmental activists and leaders, convened a oneday seminar on June 7, 2025 in Buea to strategize key climate finance actions for the Cameroonian government to prioritize at the upcoming SBI62 and subsequent intergovernmental climate processes. This year's session will also lay groundwork for COP30, the global climate conference scheduled for November 2025 in Belem, Brazil. In Cameroon, various climate justice initiatives are underway to raise awareness about the realities faced by communities, particularly women and girls, who are disproportionately affected by climate change.
