MINREX: Canada Promises Increased Security Assistance

The Minister of External Relations on March 27, 2017 had separate talks with the Chinese Ambassador to Cameroon and the Canadian High Commissioner.

Canada has promised to give continuous and increased security and humanitarian assistance to Cameroon to boost the fight against the terrorist group, Boko Haram in the Far North Region and also to enable Cameroon cope with the humanitarian needs of refugees and internally displaced people by the war.
The Canadian High Commissioner to Cameroon, René Cremonese disclosed his country’s commitment in Yaounde on Monday March 27, 2017 after discussions with Cameroon’s Minister of External Relations, Lejeune Mbella Mbella. He told the press that they equally discussed the possibility of military cooperation in the war against Boko Haram. Lejeune Mbella Mbella and the Canadian diplomat also discussed the crisis rocking the North West and South West English-speaking regions of Cameroon and René Cremonese said he gave some advice on how to handle the crisis. They also discussed the recently created National Commission for the Promotion of Bilingualism and Multiculturalism.
