South West: Man Goes Missing On Mount Cameroon

Some guides have already carried out futile attempts to locate Nguipdop Marthurin, a 27-year-old tourist.

A 27-year-old man has gone missing on the mountain in Buea. The man whose name we got as was part of a 54-man excursion to the mountain organised by a Douala-based company, Glotelho as a sort of recreation for its staff. He was reportedly among the few workers who made it to the summit but while the others made a U-turn down the slope, Marthurin took time off to enjoy the breathtaking scenery up the mountain and lost his way since Saturday March 25, 2017. The last person to reach Marthurin was his wife on phone during which he declared he was missing and seeing strange things.  She is the one who alerted her husband’s colleagues.
A manhunt was immediately launched as attempts to reach him by phone were futile. A first of five guides went up the mountain that same night but could not find him. A second team of guides left the following day on Sunday and the search produced no result. Today the rescue mission will be reinforced with a military helicopter which will be conducting a drill on the Mountain.  However...
