Media : Practitioners against Manipulation

This was during a press conference organised in Douala on August 5.
The National Union of Independent Journalists (Synajic) has called on media practitioners across the country to resist political manipulation. The appeal was made during a press conference in Douala on Tuesday, August 5, 2025. The union’s president, Alex Koko, emphasized the union’s commitment to upholding democratic institutions and peace. He stated that Synajic has initiated a national tour to raise awareness among political leaders about the need for restraint and the preservation of peace, which he called a core value of the nation.
“We must turn away from the prophets of chaos, whose only ambition is to see our beautiful country sink into the troubles experienced by others”, Koko stated. While acknowledging the nation’s challenges, he insisted that they are not insurmountable and can be addressed through collaboration. As a “sentinel of peace and watchdog of democratization”, Synajic organized the press briefing to dissuade troublemakers.
