Digitalising Secondary Education: Cameroon Explores New Projects

Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute on October 17, 2025 received in audience the Chief Development Officer of Promethean, a Commonwealth partner and a global education provider.

As part of efforts in exploring new areas and projects in the digitalization of secondary education in Cameroon, the Prime Minister Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute, granted an audience to the Chief Development Officer of Promethean, a Commonwealth partner and a global education provider, Jon McDermott. The delegation he led issues from the Commonwealth Investment Council and is helping Cameroon develop the digitalisation process in the secondary education sector, notably with the provision of electronic boards. Working in partnership with the Ministry of Secondary Education, the delegation was in Cameroon two years ago and the current visit is to continue the outlined work as a global technology education provider.

Speaking to reporters after the audience with the Head of Government, Jon McDermott said they are in the country to continue the process of digitalization across secondary schools in particular and education in general. “Our real focus is how we can use technology to enhance pedagogy in the classrooms. We are looking at improving the digital skills of the teachers and students and empower them to be able to develop themselves into more competitive occupations in the future. Critically, we are thinking at giving them the skills and digital capabilities to be able to take that forward,” he stated.
