Honorary Doctorate : Dominique Wolton To Be Recognised

The process gained momentum through a public debate at the Advanced School of Mass Communication yesterday, October 29, 2025.

The University of Yaounde II, through the Advanced School of Mass Communication (ASMAC), has initiated the idea of awarding Dominique Wolton, a prominent scholar in the field of political communication with an Honorary Doctorate (Honoris Causa doctorate). The process gained momentum yesterday October 29, 2025 at the school campus through a public debate examining his work and ideas, and considering whether he should be awarded an Honoris Causa doctorate. 
Presiding at the public consultation was the Director of ASMAC, Professor François Marc Modzom, who said the reason his institution is interested in honouring Dominique Wolton is that he is a towering figure in his field. Dominique Wolton is a renowned scientist in the field of Communication and Political Communication. According to Prof. François Marc Modzom, many people are unaware that he was born in Cameroon in 1947.  He further revealed that one cannot study political communication without referencing the works of Dominique Wolton. “His books and ideas are fundamental to the field, and we believe it is essential to recognise his contributions”, Professor François Marc Modzom explained.
